The electronic devices used in LED switching power supplies are mainly: LED diodes, IGBTs, and MOSFETs.
Power electronic devices work in the switching state instead of linear state
Power electronic devices work at high frequency instead of low frequency close to the power frequency
The output of the switching power supply is DC instead of AC
LED switching power supply has a circuit to control the switching tube to perform high-speed on and off. It is to convert DC power into high-frequency AC power to transform the converter to generate the required one or more sets of voltage!
The reason for the conversion into the high-frequency alternating current is that the efficiency of high-frequency alternating current in the transformer circuit is higher than the mains 50Hz or 60Hz. Therefore, the switching power supply transformer can be very small, and it will not be very hot when the switching power supply is working, and the product price is lower than the power frequency DC stabilized power supply. If you don’t change 50Hz or 60Hz to high-frequency power, then switching power supplies will not make any sense.
Switching power supplies can be broadly divided into two types: isolated and non-isolated. Switching power supplies must be isolated, and switching power converters are not necessarily isolated. Compared with traditional DC power supplies, switching power supplies have the advantages of small size, lightweight, and high efficiency.
